Funding notification – Aluminium stud welding
On Monday, 27 May 2019, Heinz Soyer Bolzenschweißtechnik GmbH officially received the funding decision for the research project “New aluminium stud welding process up to 12 mm” from State Secretary Roland Weigert and the Managing Director of the Bavarian Research Foundation, Dr Haslbeck.
The research project aims to improve the aluminium stud welding process by means of new process approaches. Aluminium as a material of the future is becoming more and more important in the field of stud welding (e.g. vehicle construction, shipbuilding, transport and general construction engineering). Due to the economic efficiency of stud welding, solutions for safety-critical applications are increasingly becoming more in demand. The focus is therefore on improving the welding quality for stud welded joints up to 12 mm diameter with high reproducibility and the associated process reliability.
The tasks to be solved in this research project can only be solved in a cooperation between industry and research. The project partners Heinz Soyer Bolzenschweißtechnik GmbH, the SLV Munich (Training and Testing Institute of Welding Technology in Munich) and the UniBwM (University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich) ideally complement each other’s core competences in practice, basic research and analysis, promising that this technically demanding project be brought to a successful conclusion.
